2011-2012 Officer Nominations and Elections

We held officer nominations this morning. If you were nominated to run for an office and decide you do not want to do this, please let Mrs. Witter know as soon as possible.

For those running for an office, your campaign posters need to be approved by Mrs. Witter or Mrs. Parker before they can be displayed in the halls.

If you would like to make a video campaign announcement, email the video to Mrs. Parker or bring your video on a flash drive and I will upload it our site.

Elections are Wednesday, May 18 in the computer labs at 815am.

What is NJHS?

Membership in the National Junior Honor Society is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a secondary student. The NJHS has worked hard to bring the accomplishments of outstanding students to the attention of parents, teachers, peers, and community. Chapters in more than 5,000 secondary schools across the nation strive to give practical meaning to the Society’s goals of scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship.

These five ideals have been considered as the basis for your selection. No student is inducted simply because of a high academic average. The National Junior Honor Society strives to recognize the total student: one who excels in all these areas. The standards used for selection were:

Scholarship – 92 percent cumulative average in core classes

Leadership, Service, Character and Citizenship – These characteristics were all demonstrated by your activities and teacher recommendations.

Membership, however, is more than an honor. It carries with it more than certain privileges. It incurs a responsibility and an obligation to demonstrate those outstanding qualities that resulted in your selection.

Your membership also carries a responsibility to the chapter. If our chapter to the National Junior Honor Society is to be effective and meaningful, each member must become involved. Live up to your Service obligation by participating in all our chapter projects.
